Privacy Policy
1. Summary
PhoneCare is a diagnostic app that measures your phone's performance on your device. We do not sell personal data, we do not upload your photos or files, and we do not build user profiles on our own servers.
To show ads and keep the app running reliably, a limited set of technical data is shared with Google (AdMob and Firebase). Google may use this data for advertising, fraud prevention, and analytics in line with their own policies. The categories are listed in Section 4 and match what we declare in the Google Play Data safety form.
2. Data we do not collect or share
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details.
- Your photos, videos, documents, SMS, call logs, contacts, or calendar.
- Precise GPS or Wi-Fi-based location.
- Content from files scanned during duplicate-image detection.
- Any biometric data.
We do not store any personal data on our own servers. PhoneCare does not have its own backend that holds user accounts or scan results.
3. Data processed on your device only
To provide the diagnostic features, PhoneCare reads the following locally. None of it leaves your device.
- Storage I/O benchmark: writes and reads a temporary 4 MB test file in the app's private cache, then deletes it.
- Frame jank sample: records the time between 180 consecutive frames rendered by the app.
- Thermal headroom: reads Android's built-in thermal API (Android 10 and above).
- Runtime pressure: reads memory and process information from the Android system.
- Duplicate-image scan (only if you open that feature): queries image metadata via
MediaStoreand computes a local hash over the first 64 KB of each candidate file to group duplicates. The image bytes themselves never leave the device. - App-usage statistics (only if you grant Usage access): read via Android's
UsageStatsManagerto surface battery-draining apps. Results are displayed on your phone only.
4. Data shared with third parties
This section mirrors the Data safety declaration on our Google Play listing. Google distinguishes between data collected (sent to the developer's own servers) and data shared (sent to other companies). PhoneCare collects nothing on its own servers but shares the categories below with Google's advertising and analytics services.
| Category | What it contains | Purpose | Sent to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate location | Coarse country / region derived from your IP address (not GPS). | Advertising or marketing | Google AdMob |
| Crash logs | Stack traces, exception type, and the device model when the app crashes. | Advertising or marketing, fraud prevention, app quality | Google Firebase Crashlytics; Google AdMob (SDK-level) |
| Diagnostics | Anonymised performance metrics such as ANRs, startup time, and SDK errors. | Advertising or marketing, app quality | Google Firebase; Google AdMob |
| Other app performance data | Aggregated telemetry about feature usage and reliability. | Advertising or marketing, app quality | Google Firebase Analytics; Google AdMob |
| App interactions | Event names (for example, "scan_started", "scan_completed") and non-sensitive parameters such as device class or score band. | Analytics | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Device or other IDs | Android Advertising ID (resettable), Firebase installation ID, and similar pseudonymous identifiers. | Advertising or marketing, fraud prevention | Google AdMob; Google Firebase |
All data above is transferred over a secure HTTPS connection (encrypted in transit). None of these categories includes your name, email, phone number, photos, files, contacts, SMS, or precise location.
You can reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.
5. Permissions we request
| Permission | Why we need it | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| INTERNET | Serve ads, load Firebase crash reports, and deliver analytics events. | No (required for ads & crash reporting) |
| READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) |
Detect duplicate photos in the Duplicate Images cleanup feature. | Yes — only prompted when you open that feature. |
| PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS | Identify apps with high background activity that may affect performance. | Yes — granted manually in Settings if you choose to. |
| POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) | Show local notifications such as scan completion or scheduled re-checks. | Yes — you can deny or disable at any time. |
6. Third-party services
PhoneCare relies on a small number of widely used third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy; the relevant links are provided below.
6.1 Google AdMob
We show banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free. AdMob receives the data listed in Section 4 — including a pseudonymous advertising identifier, approximate device type, IP-derived country, and signals used to prevent ad fraud. We do not send AdMob your name, email, or any other personally identifying information.
AdMob's policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
6.2 Google Firebase — Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which features are used, which scans complete, and which screens crash. The events we log are listed in our public Analytics Events spec and contain no personal information about you — only event names, anonymous session identifiers, and non-sensitive parameters like a score band or device class. Firebase policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
6.3 Google Firebase — Crashlytics
If PhoneCare crashes, Crashlytics sends a stack trace and device model so we can fix the bug. We do not capture screen contents, keystrokes, or file paths outside of our own app's code.
6.4 Google Play services
Provides the runtime environment that AdMob and Firebase depend on. Google's policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
7. Data retention
Benchmark results and scan history are stored only on your device, in the app's private database. You can clear everything by going to Android Settings > Apps > PhoneCare > Storage > Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
Anonymised analytics and crash reports are retained by Firebase for the retention periods Google defines (typically up to 14 months for analytics events; crash data up to 90 days).
8. Children
PhoneCare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the limited data processed through our third-party providers, and to opt out of personalised advertising. Since PhoneCare itself does not store personal data on a server, most deletion requests can be completed by clearing the app or uninstalling it.
To exercise any right, email us at support@7ven.work.
10. International users
The app runs on your device wherever you are. Third-party services (AdMob, Firebase) may process anonymised technical data on servers in the United States or other countries where Google operates.
11. Security
Benchmarks, scan history, and caches are stored in app-private storage and are not readable by other apps on the device. All network traffic to Google services uses HTTPS, so the data described in Section 4 is encrypted in transit.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page and, where required, surface a notice in the app.
